Winter rains color California trails green.
This stretch of trail in the James Way Park bursts into green from thousands of small oxalis plants that later produce thousands of bright yellow flowers. As pretty and cheerful as the flowered trail sides are, I love the early green display.

As much as I love the climate and beautiful beaches here on the CA central coast, I miss the deciduous forests found back East. This roadside patch is typical of those forest floors, but it is within sight of my home place.

Several years ago, a local museum featured this large critter that filled the small exhibit space. I loved seeing the playful inventiveness of the artist.
